Erro
Guð mundur Guð mundsson dit Erró was born on 19 July 1932 in Ólafsvík, Iceland.
He is a postmodern and Pop art artist, famous for his paintings, drawings, collages, engravings, sculptures and videos. The artist graduated from the Reykjavík School of Visual Art, where he worked as a teacher for a short period.
As a globe-trotter artist, Erró collects and assembles advertisements, news images, comics and posters, often incorporating characters from works by Eugène Delacroix, Fernand Léger and Pablo Picasso. Erró’s surreal imagery mixes comic book characters with dictators: Donald Duck and Chip & Dale are alongside Adolf Hitler and Saddam Hussein.
