Mauro Corda
Born in Lourdes in 1960, Mauro Corda is a contemporary sculptor who has always sought out «animality in the human and humanity in the animal».
A multi-faceted artist for a singular work that “explores the great questions of our time”.
16 years later, he entered the School of Fine Arts in Reims. He then taught in the workshop of Charles Auffret before joining that of Jean Cardot during his training at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Paris.
In the early 1980s, he met the sculptor Jean Carton. This encounter encouraged him to continue on this path. A few years later, he won the Paul Belmondo prize, a renowned medallist and sculptor (and father of actor Jean-Paul Belmondo).
He then took the direction of Spain and more precisely Madrid where he stayed from 1985 to 1987 at the casa Velazquez.
