Catherine Marie-Agnès de Saint-Phalle was born in Neuilly-sur-Seine on 29 October 1930, and died in California on 21 May 2002.

Niki de Saint Phalle is a visual artist, painter, sculptor and film director. She has been committed to the liberation of women, the rights of black Americans and to the side of AIDS patients. Like César, Christophe and Yves Klein, she is part of the new realist group.

With her second husband, Jean Tinguely, she will create a large number of commissioned sculptures and joint projects, including the famous Stravinsky Fountain near the Centre Pompidou (commissioned by the City of Paris).

Niki de Saint Phalle leaves a huge work, with beauty as outsized as his gargantuan sculptures: ode to the Sacred Feminine Eternal.
